Actual place from 1851 census
Was there a 2nd son of James and Bestsy called James? Dth info suggests there was, but maybe the age has been mis-recorded. No registration for the birth of a 2nd James found in Kingsbridge Reg Dist. Given he was the same age as Emma (i.e. 13 in June and August 1867) he would most likely have been her twin. Since Emma was born late 1853 (Oct - Dec), James and Bestsy could have had another child by August 1854 who would have been 13 in 1867 but 2 so close together would then have been very unusual.
Also, if there was a 2nd son called James it would suggest the first had died, but there is no death registered that would fit the first (checking in Kingsbridge RD)
Is it significant that no relationship to James and Betsy is shown for the dth inscription for this James? - was he a nephew or grandson rather than a son? There were Jameses born in Cosford Reg Dist, Suffolk and St. Germans Reg Dist, Cornwall in 1853. St. Germans the most likely - but one died there in 1857 - the same one or different?
Gender Male Died 3 Aug 1867 Australia
- Possibly the James who died on 3 Aug 1867, if the age was mis-recorded on the gravestone or has been mis-read / transcribed from there.

Some illness seems to have swept through the family at this time, as James' brother William and sister Emma had died about 2 months prior to this.
