It is interesting that John made a nephew an executor and not just his son William. Possibly son John had died, with such a common name it is hard to be sure. Although no relationship to George is shown in the statement, George was John's son-in-law, husband of John's daughter Charlotte.

The only marriage of a John COOPER to a Jane C between 1851 (when John was shown in the census as a widower) and the 1861 census (by which time he had remarried).
Since a Jane Crittall COOPER of the same age as the Jane C COOPER, wife of John in the 1861 census, died in the neighbouring RD of Croydon in 1888 I think it fairly safe to assume the marriage was of this couple.
