To the Diaconate - Peter was ordained by James Cornwallis, Bishop of Coventry and Lichfield, but authorised by John Ross, Bishop of Exeter.
The ordination took place in a private chapel that had been built in 1774; there were a number of such Church of England chapels in the area. (See this section in 'The Environs of London')
(source: CCEd entry)
Occupation From 2 Aug 1792 to 5 Jan 1794 Bicton, Devon, England

His licensing occurred 2 months after his ordination as Deacon, although his ordination 'Letters Dismissory' record dated the same as his ordination shows he was to be curate at Bicton, receiving £40 a year. He was licensed to another parish the day after he was priested; I assume he was curate in Bicton until then.

- GRO ref: Glubb, Peter q4 1852 Torrington RD 5b 348; GRO online index shows age at death as 82
Actual date from Vivian (Cornwall Vis, p. 582)
Peter died, as was usual at the time, still in office as Rector despite his age, but the PRs show signs of his declining health. The PRs show that he was still officiating at burials to late June 1852, and at some baptisms to late October, and he took all the marriages that year, his last being in September. Peter's writing was becoming increasingly shaky and for that last marriage he only signed the marriage entry, the rest being in another hand. After the above dates only other priests names appear, especially John Palmer, who had been doing a lot of the baptising already.
