- I guess it was probably this Gilbert who was described as occupier of this close in Totnes. (I have only seen the catalogue entry)
Will 1596 Possibly of this Gilbert - I guess Gilbert may have been the Gilbert of Ipplepen who left a will written or proved 1596 but which now only known to exist as a list entry (from DWP, citing Dymond, Robert Historical Collections relating to the History, Antiquities and Families of Devonshire (16 vols., but lacking vols. 1, 3 and 5 - Gilbert's entry in Vol. 4, p. 338) MSS, Westcountry Studies Library).

Notes - A Gilbert Wotton was a witness to the will of William Wotton (1554) and is described as deceased in the will of another William (1608) who I think was a grandson of the first William, and who left bequests to Gilbert's children.
It is possible that the references are to different Gilberts but I am guessing they are to the same one. Unfortunately in neither will is the relationship of the testator to Gilbert mentioned.
