However, there is no birth registration for a Frederick Godfrey born in 1878 or 9 in Kent. If the birthplace is correct, then he was born in Faversham RD; there was a birth registered there in 1881, so possibly this Frederick:
GRO ref: Godfrey, Frederick q3 1881 Faversham RD 2a 823; GRO online index shows mother's maiden name as Butler.
His marriage PR entry names his father as Alfred, and the most likely marriage of an Alfred Godfrey was in Faversham RD in q2 1858 to Emily Butler, so the above does seem to be his birth, despite the date discrepancy.
