Edmund DUNRICHE
Set As Default Person -
Name Edmund DUNRICHE Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1555 - Date from depositions taken in 1637/38, in which he was said to be aged about 82 years (TNA ref. C 21/G24/5).
Shown as alias Ludbroke when he surrendered rectories and tithes in abt 1595, Edmund was presumably related to the following Richard and William, one of whom may have been his father.
A Richard Dunriche als Ludbroke of Buckland Monachorum left a will in 1582, only now known of as a list entry Fry's calendar; similarly, administration of probate was granted for a William Dunridge alias Ludbrooke of Meavy in 1616. Both were presumably relations of Edmond.
Gender Male Miscellaneous Abt 1595 Surrender of interests - In 37 Eliz. I Edmund surrendered his interest in a lease of the rectories of Walkhampton and Sheepstor ('Shettestorr'), with tithes in Bickleigh, etc. to the Queen.
(so far I have only seen the Discovery catalogue entry; it shows Edward but given the link to Saltash I think this must be a mistake. Also, it has the 'etc' so I don't know what this represents)
Also known as Edmund DUNRIDGE Also known as Edmund LUDBROOK Residence Beerferris, Devon, England
- I think a reference in depositions means that Edmund did have or had had a home in Beer Ferris. (He is also described as 'of St Nyotts [St. Neot] Cornwall in those depositions)
Residence Abt 1600 Saltash, Cornwall, England
- Land of 'Edmond Dunrich, gent. decd., then lands of Jas. Buller,' were referred to in a lease in 1703 - referring to this Edmund or another?
I think this Edmund did live in Saltash at one time, given that at least one daughter and son appear to have married there.
Occupation From 1618 to 1629 Steward of Foymoor Stannary Court - In a Star Chamber case (TNA ref: STAC 8/89/18) in 1618 Edmund Dunridge was referred to as the steward of the Stannary Court. (His son-in-law John Doble was an attorney of the court and also involved)
(so far I have only seen the catalogue entry)
Also referred to as steward in 1629:
"14 February 1629 -- Petition of Edmund Dunrich, servant to the Earl of Pembroke, and steward of the Stannary Court of Foymore, in Cornwall, complains of his arrest by the Deputy Marshal of the King's Bench, contrary to privilege of Parliament, and the immunities belonging to the Stannaries."
and
"16 February 1629 -- Order for the discharge of Edmund Dunrich."
and
"19 February 1629 -- Petition of Thomas Dudson, Under Marshal of the Marshalsea of the King's Bench, praying for his discharge, having been committed for contempt in arresting Edmund Dunrich."
(from Parliamentary Archives, main papers, ref. HL/PO/JO/10/1/38 - catalogue entry only seen).

Family Agnes SKIRRETT, b. Est 1556, d. Yes, date unknown Married Est 1578 - In Edmund's answer to the sixth interrogatory on behalf of the defendant Edward Skirrett (dispute re Sortridge, TNA ref: C21/G24/5; deposition given Jan 1637/8), is included: "this Depont saith that he and the said Justice Glanvill marryed two sisters".
Two documents, dated 1588 and 1620, refer to Edmund's wife as Agnes. Whilst it is possible that it was before 1588 or after 1620 that he was married to a Skirrett it is probable that Agnes was Agnes née Skirrett. This is especially so since Edmund's daughter Thomasine was married by William Skirrett, presumably since he was her uncle, provided her mother was a Skirrett, though this could still have happened if her mother had died and her father remarried.
Offspring - In 1600 at St. Stephens in Saltash a Margaret Dunriche married:
"1601. April 13. William Dobell and Margaret Dunriche."
(from "Heraldic church notes from Cornwall", p.135)
Was Margaret their daughter? I think it quite likely, I suspect it is not a coincidence that their daughter Thomasin had also married a Doble, and both Thomasin and their son Giles had married in Saltash parish, but it could be that whilst it was not a coincidence two cousins both married Dobles.
Hence, for the moment, I have not added Margaret as the daughter of Edmund and his wife.
