Richard OWER
Set As Default Person -
Name Richard OWER Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Gender Male Property From 1576 to 1594 Gore, Eastry, Kent, England
- According to 'Liber Estriae or Memorials of the Royal Ville and Parish of Eastry' (Shaw, William Francis, 1870):
"Gore, a small farm consisting of a messuage and 21 acres, belonged, in 1576, to the family of Ower. In A.D. 1594 Richard Ower settled it on his son Boys Ower, who by will, in 1623, bequeathed it to his three sons, Edward, Matthew, and Thomas [sic - 3d son actually Boys]. Edward and Matthew, the two survivors, in 1641, conveyed the premises to Richard Harvey, of Selson, gent., whose grandson Robert, with others of the family, conveyed it in 1735, to John Paramor, Junr., of Sandwich, and afterwards of Statenborough, gent., from whom it passed to Wm. Boys, Esqre. It now forms part of the Statenborough estate." (the whoe book online)
Richard may not have actually lived at Gore, his wife and son Boys were both 'of Canterbury' when they died, but Richard and Elizabeth may have lived nearby at one time as a Boys Ower who I think was probably their son was baptised in Tilmanstone, close to Eastry, in 1572.
