The latter may have been more likely, given that the Edward baptised in 1664 was probably living in Okehampton. There is no clue in the marriage register as to where Edward was living or whether he was a gent. However, the Edward bap 1661 seems to have married in 1705, and there is no sign of a burial of Temperance in Whitchurch between the marriage of Temperance and the 1705 marriage (browsed the register, didn't rely on the extremely flawed transcribed data on FMP; have not browsed Tavistock)
