  • Name Ann BAMPFIELD
    Relationshipwith Teresa Ann GOATHAM
    Born Est 1570
    • Vivian shows as 7th daughter.
Estimate based on birth order amongst daughters, and approximate dob of brother Amias, but I don't know how the daughters were distributed amongst the sons of Richard and Elizabeth.
Possibly born a little earlier, as she had had 3 children by the time her first husband died in 1590/91, but gentry often married younger than average and so Anne could have married aged 16 and had time for this.
    Gender Female
Residence Bef 1585  Poltimore, Devon, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    • * n.b. date is only an estimate - but 'before about' is not an option *
Residence 1590  Mapperton House, South Mapperton, Dorset, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    • Ann presumably spent her married life with Christopher Morgan at Mapperton House, which her husband had inherited as a young man.
Residence 1620  Marsh Farm, North Mapperton, Beasminster, Dorset, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    • It is interesting to note that when her second husband died he bequeathed two farms to his three chidlren. For one he mentions the 'nowe tenantes or occupyers'. For the other he did not, which probably meant it was the family home.
This was no longer Mapperton House, but a farm at North Mapperton (Mapperton House is in what was called South Mapperton). While South Mapperton became known simply as Mapperton, North Mapperton became known as Mapperton Marsh. Where the village or hamlet of North Mapperton was is and may always have been part of Beaminster parish, the south eastern part adjacent to South Mapperton. It includes Marsh Farm, which I guess is where Anne and John and family lived.
(An Inventory of the Historical Monuments in Dorset, Volume 1, West (1952) refers to it as 'Mapperton Marsh Farm').
I guess they probably moved there when children from Anne's first marriage took over Mapperton House, sometime before 1620, but were there by the latter date, it being when John died.
    Died Between 17 Nov 1620 and 7 Dec 1627
    • Ann was granted probate of  her husband John Luttrell's will in 1620.
I think she died before a 3rd grant for the will of her husband Christopher Morgan was granted in 1627, when her daughters and their husband were invovled and Anne was referred to as 'Annam Luttrell als Morgan nup[er] relcam'.
Hence I think she died between the two events.

    Mother Elizabeth SIDENHAM,   b. Est 1540,   d. 4 Mar 1598/99  (Age ~ 59 years)
    Married Bef 1557
    • Children names from Vivian (Devon vis, p.39), as recorded in 1620, information probably supplied by Amias. Approximate dates of births based on that for Amias, based on age in his age as recorded in Richard's IPM. However, I am guessing an 18 month gap between children, but I don't know how the daughters were distributed amongst the sons, of if any who died in infancy are missing.

Elizabeth was not mentioned in her father's will, written 8 April 1557. He mentioned only one daughter, making provision for her marriage. It seems safe to assume that Elizabeth and any other daughters living at the time were already married, and a marriage portion having been provided there was no need to mention them.

    Other Partners: Mary BRETT

    • Christopher must have married between his first wife dying and in time to have 3 children with Ann before his own death.

Family 2 John LUTTRELL, Esq.,   bap. 26 May 1556, Dunster, Somerset, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location,   d. Abt 1620  (Age ~ 63 years)
    Married Between 20 Feb 1590/91 and 1596
    • Ann proved her husband Christopher Morgan's will on 20 Feb 1590/1 as a Morgan. She and her husband John Luttrell were the joint plaintiffs in a Chancery Court case sometime between 1591 and 1596 (entry on Discover).

Children from John's will and the Luttrell pedigree in Vivian's Devon vis. Since the latter only shows sons there could have been other daughters who had died before John wrote his will.
