Thomas POLWHELE
Set As Default Person -
Name Thomas POLWHELE Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Bef 1585 - Shown as aged 30 or more at the IPM taken when his father died (in Vivian, Cornwall Visitations - I've not seen and checked this IPM)
Gender Male Residence Treworgan, St. Erme, Cornwall, England
- Now a listed building - see the British Listed Buildings website
Died Aft 1620 - Living at the time of the 1620 visitation.
Since an IPM was needed for his father, I suspect it would have been for him too (as he was son and heir and probably held the same land at his death); the fact that none seems to have been taken suggests he died after these stopped. Although the requirement was not formally abolished until 1660 in practice they had stopped at the start of the Civil Wars (1640), so I think Thomas probably died after 1640.
I have not looked for his death, but the fact that Vivian didn't find one may well mean he died before 1660, i.e. during the period when the Wars and interregnum mean that there are many gaps in the registers.

From PR entry (image on FamilySearch, viewed 5 Jun 2022)
"Thomas Polwheele, (filius Digorii Polwheele de parochia Sti. Earme Armigeri,) et Duena Glanvill, (filia Johis Glanvill defuncti olim unus ex Justiciariis Domini Regis de Curia Common plees) nupti fuere Tercio die Marcii"
[ translates:
"Thomas Polwheele (the son of Digory Polwheele of the parish of St Earme [Erme] Esquire) and Duenes (the daughter of John Glanvill, deceased, formerly one of the Lord Justices of the King's Court of Common Pleas) were married the third day of March"]
Vivian (Cornwall visitations) also shows the marriages as 3 Mar; the Cornwall OPC database is clearly in error in showing 2 Mar.
Breage is where the Godolphin family home was, so we may assume Dionisia was living down there with her mother and step-father, hence her marriage being there.
