John and Alice Glanville and their (headless) children
It is curious that the effigies of the children have been beheaded (5) and disappeared altogether (2), while John and Alice have remained more-or-less intact (some damage to their noses seems to have occurred but been repaired).
Mrs Bray and others claim the damage was done by parliamentarian troops during the civil wars. While noting that there is no evidence given Gerry Woodcock notes that the "family ... at Kilworthy, provided ... the most prominent spokesmen in Tavistock of the royalist…Family ID F7814 Family Group Page | Family Chart
Family Sampson HELE, b. Abt 1582, d. Between 10 Oct 1653 and 4 Dec 1655 (Age ~ 71 years) Married Bef 1613 - Date estimated from age of their oldest child in 1620 visitation, which suggests that child was born 1613 or 14. Vivian shows another (older) who had died in infancy. Hence it appears that Sampson and Joan would have married by 1613.
Sons should be in order, and daughters should be in order, but apart from those named in the 1620 visitation I don't know how the daughters were interspersed amongst the sons, and I am guessing the gaps between them.
