Other Partners: Elizabeth m. 5 Sep 1599Mother Dorothe, bur. 6 Sep 1598, St. Mary’s Church, Brabourne, Kent, England Married - Carpenter was quite a rare surname in Brabourne. An Amee was buried there in 1582 and a Thomas in 1584, possibly John's parents. The only other two burials in the KFHS transcripts are Dorothe, shown as wife of John, and Elizabeth, who I think was his wife or widow.
In addition, there are only 3 baptisms, all sons of John in the few years before the burial of Dorothe. Hence it seems fairly save to assume that despite the marriage licence info. in Cowper not showing John as a widower that in fact he was, and Dorothe was his first wife.
