Gender Male Died Yes, date unknown Notes - (Research):I thought the will of a Thomas Carpenter of Brabourne (KHLC ref. PRC/17/45/390) who left a will written in 1583, proved 1584 might show a link to John but it doesn't. It names 3 sons, James, George and Jeffery and a wife Thomasyne. Could be a brother of John, though if so not necessarily on good terms with him, as the two executors appointed were Henry Morris and Sampson Barrow.

Married - Carpenter was quite a rare surname in Brabourne. An Amee was buried there in 1582 and a Thomas in 1584, possibly John's parents. The only other two burials in the KFHS transcripts are Dorothe, shown as wife of John, and Elizabeth, who I think was his wife or widow.
In addition, there are only 3 baptisms, all sons of John in the few years before the burial of Dorothe. Hence it seems fairly save to assume that despite the marriage licence info. in Cowper not showing John as a widower that in fact he was, and Dorothe was his first wife.

"John Carpenter and Elizebethe Lyster was maried by a Lysence the 5 of Septeb 1599". (The date could be 3, not clear but the year is, it was 1599).
The year is critical - Elizabeth was still married to William Lyster in September 1598.
(KFHS transcripton has 2 Sep 1598 but is clearly wrong)
