John HALKE
Set As Default Person -
Name John HALKE Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1520 - About 1520 according to age given on brass in Hastingleigh Church (83).
Gender Male Church Office From 1584 to 1586 St. Mary the Virgin Church, Hastingleigh, Kent, England
Churchwarden - From Hastingleigh website, citing as souce: ATs (CCA ref: Dca/BT/92/ )
Occupation South Hill, Hastingleigh, Kent, England
Yeoman - Although South Hill farm house is a listed building, it appears to post date the time of John and Amy.
(details on the listed building website)
Died 28 Mar 1604 - Shown on the old Halke pedigree, and named in his father's will. The former appears to indicate he was the first son.
From brass in Hastingleigh Church.
"Johannes Halke obiit 28 die Mar Ao Dni 1604 Aoq3 ætatis 83"
[John Halke died 28 Mar 1604 in his 83rd year]
The dates, month, year and age appear to have been added later and to be lower quality than the rest of the text on the brass; it appears that it was made when his wife died with spaces left for his data.
Buried 30 Mar 1604 St. Mary the Virgin Church, Hastingleigh, Kent, England

Family Amy, b. Abt 1526, d. 16 Feb 1596/97 (Age ~ 71 years) Married - A John was clearly father of Sarah and Amy (from their baptisms).
Relationship between Thomas, Joane, William and Richard (as siblings) from wills.
That the father of the 4 siblings was also a John is from Joane's father being named in marriage register when she married (from Hastingleigh website, data transcribed from ATs) and a Court of Chancery case (1593 or 5, C 2/Eliz/D5/6, I've phototed but not yet had time to read) in which the defendants were 'John Haulke of Hastingleigh, Kent, yeoman and his son Richard Haulke' seems likely to refer to this John and his son and so agrees with the marriage entry for Joane, and more conclusively Richard refers to his father John in his will.
The age of Amy suggested on the brass in Hastingleigh Church means it was probably a different John who was the father of Sarah and Amy. I do not know which family the John who died in 1576 belonged to.
