- * I'm not certain I have Agnes and Lucy married to the right William. *
Three cousins called William Pepperell were baptised 1719-1723, as well as 2 more in 1736.
William bap 1719 in Charleton was probably the one who married there in 1742. One being Agnes's brother can't have married her! Hence I think she probably married the son of her uncle John OR one of the 2 baptised in 1736, one in Slapton, one in Stokenham. The one who was bapt in Stokenham may be slightly more likelyt to have married there, and be the one who married in 1770, leaving the William I show here, son of her Uncle Samuel.
I think it probable that it was the same William who married both Agnes and Lucy; the marriage to Lucy was a few months after Agnes's death and William was shown as a widdower. With young children he would probably having been looking for a new wife to be a mother to them. In addition, William signed the PR each time when he married and it looks like the same person's writing.
