Joseph KNOWLING
Set As Default Person -
Name Joseph KNOWLING Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Baptised 13 Sep 1647 St. Saviour’s Church, Dartmouth, Devon, England
Gender Male Apprenticeship Exeter, Devon, England
To George Knowling, Goldsmith - It is interesting that Joseph was apprentice to his uncle in Exeter, when his own father was a goldsmith in Dartmouth.
Maybe it was so that he could become a freeman of Exeter, perhaps prospects seemed better there, although he was to go on to be a goldsmith in Taunton, and when he married was described as 'of Dartmouth', not Exeter.
