(Age ~ 67 years) (Mother)
Notes - With parents 1871, with mother in Leeds (single) 1881, with son and mother in Leeds in 1891 - now married with the surname Penny.
Widowed, living just with her son herself in 1901 at 14 Banatt(?) St., Hunslet, Leeds (4 room house) (name given as Elizabeth). Living by herself, still in Hunslet but at 2 Boyne St. (3 room house) in 1911
What happened to Arthur? Not found any obvious likely candidates (Penny or Penney) in 1891 census (marr but not with wife). Nor any likely dth between 1881 and 1901 (considering place and age).
Of course he may have had 2 Christian names and used a different one.
Poss most likely in 1891 is an Arthur Penny living in Lancaster but born in Leeds. He had a 'wife' (not found marr) who he would seem to have married between 1879 and 1886 (from change in surname of children). Was Arthur living with Maria as her husband although due to his previous marr they weren't married? (This Arthur was a shoemaker, aged 34 in 1891 i.e. born about 1856, about 6 years older than Lily)
