  	GRO ref: q4 1902  S. Shields RD  10a 460 aged 45 It is probably this death - Matthew would have been 45 this quarter and was living in S Shields RD at the time of the 1901 census. There was also a burial of Matthew Emmerson in 1930, Easington RD, where the age given was 71. Although this suggests a dob 1858-1859, so fits less well his true age, his age was given as only 40 in the 1901 census so it is close to that. However, it is likely that someone better informed registered his death than gave info. for the 1901 census.  While he was boarding with a cousin at the time of the 1901 census, he was in Whitburn, with his mother and a no. of siblings also living in Whitburn / Marsden.
