- From the 1871 census where shown as aged 3 months. He was shown as the grandson of Louisa. Since John and Louisa had no children with them at the time of the 1851 census I suspect Mary was the mother. The only other possibility is that they had had a child by 1851 who had survived but was elsewhere - maybe with grandparents - at the time of the census.
