    • Date from age given in burial register.

I think it likely that James was the son of Henry and Elizabeth, baptised in Carleton Rode in 1752. The PRs for the parish have the baptisms of brothers Henry (1744) and John (1746), but no further events for Ludkins i.e. no more baptisms, no marriages, no burials, so it would seem the family moved elsewhere - and no others before this date, so they would seem to have moved to Carleton Rode from elsewhere too.
There are baptisms of children of a Henry and Elizabeth in Kenninghall from 1761 to 1773; I thought perhaps this might be the same couple but there was a marriage of a Henry Ludkin to an Elizabeth in Keninghall in 1758, with Henry shown as a singleman, so it would seem to be a completely different couple.
There would appear to be the couple who married in Bunwell in 1741, both then of that parish, and they seem to have been buried there in 1766 (Elizabeth, described as wife of Henry Ludkin) and Henry in 1775 (surname recorded as Lurkin). There is no evidence of them having any other children there. Son Henry seems to have remained there (2 marriages and a burial) but there is no sign of John or James marrying or being buried there (though John was a witness at Henry's first marriage),

Must be before 9 Mar 1828 as his wife was described as his relict (widow) when she died.
This burial in 1827 fits well (only one on FreeReg in Norfolk, phonetic search on Ludkin, 1818+/-10years and it's in East Harling, the most likely parish)

Both made their marks; witnesses were Martha Precious
and John Bussey (also made marks)

There was a Martha Precious (nee Hart) marr to Jonathan had children bapt in Larling 1778 and 1784

If James was the one baptised in Carleton Rode in 1752 then I think his brother John was probably dead, but the witness could well have been a nephew.
