      "[Nover] 14 John the Sone of Joseph Bastard & Mary the daughter of Luck Benett" (under heading '1683')
      I think this means there were 2 baptisms that day, not that John's mother was Mary, dau of Luke.
      There were other similar entries; if it was mother's name, it's never given without the g'father on this page, and all line up the name as though it is the name of another child being baptised, instead of carrying on till the end of the line.
