Siblings8 brothers and 3 sisters Patriarch & Matriarch
The Rev. Anthony HARFORD, b. Est 1604, d. 23 Jan 1655/56 (Age ~ 52 years) (Father)
Willmott NICHOLAS, b. Est 1607, bur. 22 Mar 1665/66, St. Saviour’s Church, Dartmouth, Devon, England
(Age ~ 59 years) (Mother)
Notes - 'of Stokefleming' when her son-in-law Walter Wotton wrote his will
- (Research):Calamy's account of her husband William Baylie refers to his wife having a Nicholes 'cousin-german' (i.e. first cousin)
What is not clear is whether this is William's first wife or second.
However, in Hannah's father's will he refers to a brother Thomas Nicholas. Whilst this could be a half-brother I think it is more likely his brother-in-law (often referred to without the 'in-law' at this period), so I think the wife Calamy was referring to was Hannah.
William and Hannah are shown as related to Stephen Knowling (who was described as 'uncle' in William's will) and Stephen's wife Anstis Nicholes (in her will Anstis describes Hannah as kinswoman), adding weight to the Nicholas suggestion above.
William is said to have been from Wiltshire, and have moved to Stoke Fleming at his wife's urging.
One can imagine that Hannah may have been well placed to know the situation at Stoke Fleming, with her father being Vicar of Dartmouth (Townstall with St. Saviours).
The will of Thomas Boone describes Stephen Knowling as kinsman and Hannah's mother as niece; since Stephen's wife was a NICHOLAS, at least at the time she married him, suggesting Thomas (or his wife) also had a link to the Nicholas family - maybe his mother was a Nicholas.
