  • Name Mary SHELLEY
    Relationshipwith Teresa Ann GOATHAM
Baptised 23 Sep 1715  St. Swithun’s Church, East Grinstead, Sussex, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location  [1
    • Is this the right baptism? Fits in nicely date-wise - between the marriage of Nicholas and Mary and the baptism of their daughters Grace, but East Grinstead is about 26 miles from Thakeham or Warminghurst.

There were several Nicholas Shelleys born in late 1600s, baptised Ringmer - one may be Mary's father, but Ringmer is about 30 miles from Thakeham and there were Shelleys already in Thakeham at this time; if Mary's father was not from Ringmer it might be a Nicholas from there who was in East Grinstead. Mary being such a common name it wouldn't be too much of a co-incidence if both had married Marys, but the date would be a bit of a co-incidence.
    Gender Female
    Died Aft 1 May 1758

    Notes
    • (Research):Know of existence and her father from her husband's will. Mention of "children of Henry Tapner" suggests Henry's wife Grace Shelly was a close relation, and hence stronly suggests that they were daughters of the same Nicholas Shelley.
