Married 14 Mar 1742 St. Mary Northgate Church, Canterbury, Kent, England
[1] - From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 3 Feb 2013):
Under "Marriages 1741" - "[March] 14 William Webb & ELizabeth Goatham of Whitstable wth License"Two Elizabeth's baptised Whitstable, 1721 and 1725 - it appears that one married Wm Webb in 1741/2 and one married Stephen Quainf in 1743; I thought it more likely the older Elizabeth married 1st but have since found a burial for a Michael Webb which names his grandfather as Michael Goatham, so it seems it was this way around. And the date of baptism of William and Elizabeth's first child suggests they "had to marry" which probably explains why she was younger than most brides of the period.
No note re consent of father in the PR entry or on the licence but the PR entries of this time only give the basic information and the marriage licences at this time extremely rarely mention anyone other than the couple.
