    Notes
    • (Research):In 1762 a Mary Woodman married John Gard in Milton Abbot; they had children baptised there to 1781;
      in 1778 a Mary Woodman married a George Coram in Milton Abbot; they had children baptised there in 1790.

      There were 3 Mary Woodmans that I am aware of who could have married in these years: the widow of the Benjamin who died in 1745, the Mary, dau of the Mary and Benjamin just mentioned, bapt 1743, and this Mary, also dau of a Mary and Benjamin, bapt 1747.
      ALthough the PR entries do not sure if either Mary was a widow or a spinster, the dates the 2 couples had children rule out the widow Mary from being one of the brides.
      There is nothing in the PR entries to show which Mary was involved. A marriage of a 15 year old, though, would have been extremely unusual, so I am assuming that it was the other Mary who married John Gard, and that this Mary married George Coram.

      There were 2 burials of Mary Corams in Milton Abbot between 1790 (when last child was born) and 1845 (when this Mary would have been 100). One was in 1828

    • Benjamin Woodman to Mary Newte (GENUKI, viewed c.Sept 2012)
      (Boyds marr index, as transcribed to FMP, has Mary's surname as Newle)

      A Sarah Woodman was baptised 27 Mar 1745, dau of Benjamin and Mary. Can't have been this Benjamin and Mary since they didn't marry till Sept 1745.
      A Benjamin Woodman died in May 1745, aged 35, leaving a wife (I have seen and photographed the gravestone). Again can't be this one. Boyds marriage index (as transcribed to FMP) shows that in 1742 a Benjamin Woodman marr one Agnes Tooker, but the marriage records, info. transcribed to GENUKI, show a Benjamin marrying a Mary Tooker, dau of the widow Agnes, on 8 May 1742. It would seem that the Sarah bapt in Mary 1745 and the burial in May 1742 involved this Benjamin, the husband of Mary Tooker.
      The next baptism of a child of a Benjamin and Mary was Nov 1745, too soon after the bapt of Sarah to be another dau of the Benjamin who died, plus one would expect the register to show if she was born postumously. After that there wasn't a baptism of a child of Benjamin and Mary till 1747, too long after Benjamin's death to be his - assuming the register would have shown if the child was more than a few months old, plus again no mention of it being postumous.
