      TGs index to the entries shows the death was in 1877. The index itself shows:
      "Spurrell, Benjamin, aged 18, sub registers district: Spartan, register page 317"  (index entry is on p. 91)

      The age of 18 suggests it was this Benjamin; also, I have not found Benjamin in a census after 1871
