A Thomas Spurrell, possibly the same one as marr at Plympton, marr Stoke Damerel in 1782 (Thos a labourer, to Mary Bowden, widow). Witnesses were "Elizbeth Spurrell" and "Samuel Spurrell". Not only have I not come across any other Samuel Spurrells around at this time than the one bapt 1742, his son (bapt 1773) and his uncle (bapt 1730) but comparing the signature in the Sheepstor Churchwarden's accounts of the one baptised 1742 with the witnesses signature I am sure they are one and the same. I guess the Elizabeth might have been Samuel's daughter.
Samuel (bapt 1742) had a sister-in-law Mary, wife of Walter Bowden, who had been widowed in 1778 leaving her with a young family. I suspect she may have been the Mary Bowden who married Thomas.
Marr in 1782 Thomas made his mark so can't compare signature with the Thomas who married Jane.
A Thomas son of Thomas Spurring was bur 19 Nov 1784 Charles Plymouth - the son of this Thomas?
