Joseph Dawe SPURRELL
Set As Default Person -
Name Joseph Dawe SPURRELL Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1817 Tamerton Foliot, Devon, England
- From the 1851 census where shown as aged 33
Baptised 30 Nov 1817 St. Mary’s Church, Tamerton Foliot, Devon, England
- From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 28 Aug 2012):
Under 1817, "Nov 30 Joseph Dawe Son of William & Elizabeth Spurrill, abode: Tamerton, occupation: Farmer, ceremony performed by: R Spranger"
Gender Male Occupation Bef 1861 Farmer - Shown as a retired farmer in the 1871 census as well as in the probate calendar, but he wasn't working as a farmer by 1861
Occupation 1861 House holder etc. Residence 1871 William Street, Eggbuckland, Devon, England
- Joseph and Frances were in the same house (though separate household) as a James Foot (54, a boot and shoe maker) and his sister Elizabeth (49), both born Honicknowle - both siblings of Frances. This is shown by the 1861 census, when Joseph and Frances were living as part of the same household as Thomas and Elizabeth.
The address in 1861 is just shown as (H?) Knowle, Egg Buckland. H Knowle could be short for Honicknowle - although both modern and C19th maps show Honicknowle as a little west of Egg Buckland, on the St. Pancras / Budeaux border. It is worth noting, though, that the 3 Foot siblings were all shown as born Honicknowle in 1871 but Egg Buckland in 1861, so perhaps Honicknowle, or part of it at least, was seen as being in Egg Buckland.
