William CAMPAING
Set As Default Person -
Name William CAMPAING Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Gender Male Occupation 1841 Venton Cottage, Buckland Monachorum, Devon, England
Male Servant - William Campin was shown as M.S. in the 1841 census (age shown as 40), and was living with the Luscombe family in Venton Cottage. Head of that family was John Luscombe, a farmer.
Ag labs were considered servants, so I think here M.S. probably meant "ag lab". It is noticeable that on the page and the facing page there were several farmers with male servants, but no ag labs shown. (In the last 2 dwellings the ennumerator seems to have forgotten what F.S. stood for, as men are shown as F. S. - "farm servant"?)
The servants and apprentices were shown as a separate household in the house, and as well as William included a James (aged 10) and Richard Camping (aged 8) who I'm sure must be his sons, and 2 female servants, including a Mary Horton, with 2 other Hortons (no occupation shown) bracketed with her.
