    • nb/ West Tarring registers show a James son of James and Elizabeth bapt in 1753 (6 May) - was this a mistake, and Elizabeth should be Mary, or was there also a James and Elizabeth having children in W Tarring at this time?
      I've found no evidence of any other Hacom / Holcombes etc. in West Tarring at this time; it would be a big coincidence if another couple, the husband another James, lived there at just the time to have one child there, at a time when one might have expected James and Mary to have had a child (i.e. previous one bapt 1750, next not until 1755)

      In addition, his father's will shows that he had a son called James, and the other children are listed in order of age, putting James between John and William.
