    Notes
    • (Research):Looking on IGI and SFHG db not found any likely bapt of Mary.

I did find a Mary Inkpen bur in Boxgrove 3 Apr 1778 - age given as 86. Was this Mary's mother? I think this quite likely. Boxgrove register entries are on SFHG covering the years from 1561, but this is the only Inkp* entry prior to the C19th.
It was quite common for an elderly parent to move to live with a child and their family - but so did aunts, uncles, etc.!

If this Mary was born abt 1722, the SFHG Marr Index has 2 marriages of an Inkpen to a Mary that could be her parents:
3 Mar 1719/20* Simon Inkpen to Mary Stavly - Ashington
18 Nov 1716 John Inkpen to Mary Sumttar - Warnham

Ashington is only about 8 miles from West Tarring (where this Mary married) and would seem the most likely.
The SFHG db has the bapt of two children of Simon and Mary Inkpen - bapt 1719 and 1725, so 'room' for them to have had another in 1722.

(The marr index notes that some dates may have already been converted to NS before they received them; given bapt in 1719 I guess this is one such - or that bapt was actually 1720; registers sometimes have a large year at the top of a page, but barely anything to indicate change of year part way down, making mis-transcription easy )
