William<\/a> was living in Boughton under Blean at the same time as close relations of my Hills ancestors. I thought the will might show a close link; it doesn’t, it suggests he was the son of Richard of Selling<\/a>. I don’t know of a link to Richard – could be close, could be distant. (He was probably the Richard of Selling who left a will in 1644, not yet seen).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the name of god Amen \/ I William Hilles of the p[ar]ish of Boughton under the Bleane being
weake in body but of good and p[er]fect minde And rememberance (god be therefore praised doe make)
and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in maner and forme followeing : First and
principally I Comend my soule unto God my Oreatour faithfully relying upon the meritt
of Jesus Christ my gratious redemer for Salvation eternally in the Kingdom of Heaven
And my body I will be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix herafter
named \/ Item \/ I give unto Richard Hilles my eldest sonne<\/a><\/strong> one message or Teniment
one garden And one orchard which I Bought of Mathew Price of Boughton under the
Bleane : with the appurtenances thereunto belonging To him & his heires for ever after the
desease of Joane my wife<\/a><\/strong> Paying to his Brother William Hilles<\/a><\/strong> five pounds Item I give
more unto my Son Richard Hilles to be sease of this howse I now liv in after the desease of my
wife withall other profits & Comodyties of that at osbridg [Ospringe] Ore [Oare] & newingham [Newington next Sittingbourne?] : Item I give more
unto my Sonn[e] Richard Hilles one Bed & Bedstead with the furniture there unto belonging
& one ^ {the gt[?]} Joyned Chest both being in the Chamber over the Hall one frame Table & A furme [form]
& one Brass pott being that I Bought standing in the Hall & one great Brasse Caldren
after the desease of my wife \/ Item I give unto my Sonne Edward Hilles<\/a><\/strong> one message or
Teniment with all th outhowses stables yard Backsides easments p[ro]fit Comodityes & two gardens
or orcards therunto belonging with all the Apurtinance thereunto belonging
To him & his heires for ever after the deseas of my Aforesaide wife paying unto
his sister Mary Eling<\/a><\/strong> the some of forty shillings Item I give more unto my
sonne Edward Hilles one Joynd bed with the furniture thereunto belonging one table
four Joynd stooles in the chamber over the kichen : one long ^ {Joyned} Chest in the Chamber
over the Hall the midle Brass pott & the biggest stussnitt in the Hall : after the de
seace of of [sic] my wife Item I give unto my son William Hilles the midl Ketle
in the kitching one great stufnet thre Joynd stooles the bucking Chest standing upon the
staires one Chest standing by the street dore one great puter dish have the marke of his
name upon it: after the desease of my aforesaid wife Item all thee rest of my goods
Chateles & personall estate my debt legacies & funerall Charged being discarged & paid I give
unto Joane my wife whome I was sole Executrix of this my last will & testament
Alsoe my will is that my wife shall pay out of the lease duering his life unto my son
Richard Hilles twenty shillings by the yeare that is to say ten shillings at michaell
mas & ten shillings at the An[n]unsation of our blesed Lady mary And this I publish
& declare to be my last will & Testament renounceing all other willes and
Testaments & have hereunto sett my hand & seale the 24 th day of may in
the yeare of our lord god one thousand six Hundreth sixty & two : 1662 [24 May 1662]

deceased by the oath of Joan Hilles widow and relict of the said deceased and
the only Executrix in this his will named etc. And then
approved etc. And administration of the goods etc. was committed to the said Executrix
