William Halke<\/a> is a relation but I am not certain how linked. I think his father may be a son of the William Halke who married in Hastingleigh in 1605, which would probably make this William a 5th cousin 8 x removed of mine.<\/p>\n

The Twentieth day of July in the Year of our Lord<\/p>\n

God One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifteen –<\/p>\n

I William Halks of the Town of Wye in the County<\/p>\n

of Kent Yeoman being sick and weak in Body but<\/p>\n

of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto<\/p>\n

God therefore, calling unto mind the mortality of my<\/p>\n

Body and knowing that it is appointed for all Men<\/p>\n

once to dye do make and ordain this my Last Will<\/p>\n

and Testament, that is to say: Principally and first<\/p>\n

of all I give and recommend my Soul into the Hands<\/p>\n

of God that gave it And for my Body I commend<\/p>\n

it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like &<\/p>\n

decent manner at the discretion of my Executrix<\/p>\n

Halks the Sum of Five Shillings in money and all<\/p>\n

Hastingleigh in the County of Kent now in the occupation of George<\/p>\n

Item I give bequeath and devise unto my welbeloved<\/p>\n

Sons Thomas Halks Abraham Halks and John<\/p>\n

Halks a certain parcel of Land in the Parish of Wye<\/p>\n

Known and called by the name of Bennetts Feild<\/p>\n

by Estimacon Twenty Acres more or less to them and<\/p>\n

their Assigns they paying one Hundred Pounds out<\/p>\n

of it to their Sister Elizabeth Browning Wife to<\/p>\n

Edward Browning of Godmersham as is due to him<\/p>\n

and her On a writing upon the said Lands a Twelve<\/p>\n

month after my decease So my will is that the above=<\/p>\n

=said Thomas Abraham and John shall not be<\/p>\n

possessed of the said Lands not untill a Twelve month<\/p>\n

after my decease but that my Wife shall have the<\/p>\n

first year’s Profits and then to them and their<\/p>\n

Assigns forever. Item I give bequeath to my wel=<\/p>\n

=beloved Wife Sarah for so long as she keeps herself<\/p>\n

a Widow and no longer my House and Garden in<\/p>\n

the Town of Wye where I now dwell and my Land<\/p>\n

at Mersham by Estimation Ten Acres more or less<\/p>\n

now in the Occupation of Mr<\/sup>. Edward Blechington<\/p>\n

But if it so chance she marries again or it please<\/p>\n

God She dyes which happens first Then my will is<\/p>\n

that I give bequeath and devise the said Messuage<\/p>\n

at Wye and Land at Mersham to my welbeloved<\/p>\n

Son George Halks and to his Heirs and Assigns<\/p>\n

forever Item I likewise constitute make and ordain<\/p>\n

my welbeloved Wife my only and sole Executrix of<\/p>\n

this my Last Will and Testament with all my<\/p>\n

Houshold Goods and moveables whatsoever paying and<\/p>\n

discharging all my debts so far as she is able out of<\/p>\n

my Stock and the Year’s Rent which I give her of<\/p>\n

that Bennetts Land and if there is any money wanting<\/p>\n

to discharge all my debts my will and desire is That<\/p>\n

my Sons Richard Thomas Abraham and John shall<\/p>\n

Equally proportion alike raise money out of the aforesd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

Lands that I have given them bear apart so far with<\/p>\n

their Mother as to pay and discharge all my Debts<\/p>\n

after my Stock and Hay is sold in order thereunto<\/p>\n

And I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disanull<\/p>\n

all and every other former Testamts<\/sup>. Wills Legacies<\/p>\n

Requests and Executors by me in any ways before this<\/p>\n

time named willed and bequeathed ratifying & confirming<\/p>\n

this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament<\/p>\n
