Thomas Mason<\/a> was the husband of Mary Rickson<\/a>, probably a 7 x great aunt of mine.<\/p>\n

However, it appears that Mary died in 1710 and the references to a wife Mary in this will were to his second wife who had the same Christian name.<\/p>\n

In the name of God Amen<\/b>
\nI Thomas Mason of the Town and Liberty
\nof Faversham in the County of Kent Cordwainer
\nbeing in Health of Body and of sound and
\nperfect mind and memory; praised be Almighty
\nGod therefore do make publish and declare this
\nmy Last Will and Testament in manner and
\nform following; that is to say; First I recomend
\nmy Soul into the Hands of Almighty God in
\nHopes of attaining Everlasting Life after
\nDeath thro’ the alone merits and mediation
\n[p.2]
\nof my blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ
\nAnd my Body I committ to the Earth to be
\ndecently interred in Christian burial at the
\ndiscretion of my loving Wife and Executrix
\nhereinafter named And as for my worldly
\nEstate I give and dispose thereof as followeth;
\nthat is to say; Item I give devise and bequeath
\nunto my loving Wife Mary Mason<\/strong> for and
\nduring the Term of her natural Life All that
\nmy Messuage or Tenement with all Buildings
\nand Hereditaments whatsoever thereunto be=
\n=longing situate lying and being in the Town
\nand Liberty of Faversham aforesaid and now
\nin my own Ocupation And from & immediatly
\nafter the decease of my said Wife I give and
\ndevise my said Messuage or Tenement and
\npr<\/sup>[e]mises unto my Sister Bennet Coningsby<\/strong> for
\nand during the term of her natural Life And
\nfrom and immediatly after the decease of my
\nsaid Sister Bennett Then I give devise and
\nbequeath my said Messuage or Tenement
\nand pr<\/sup>[e]mises with the Appurtences unto my
\ngood friend Elizabeth Barns<\/a> Wife of John<\/a>
\n Barns<\/a> of Faversham aforesaid Butcher and
\nto the Heirs and Assigns of her the sd<\/sup>. Elizabeth
\nBarns forever Chargable nevertheless with
\nthe payment of the Sum of Twenty pounds of
\nlawfull money of England thereout to my Brother
\nin Law Phillipp Philpot<\/strong> late of Faversham
\naforesaid Bricklayer But in Case the said
\nPhillip Philpot shall not happen to survive and
\noverlive my said Wife and Sister Then I give
\n[p.3]
\ndevise and bequeath unto the Child or Children
\nof the said Phillip Philpot that shall happen to
\nbelieving at the decease fo my said Wife & Sister
\nthe Sum of Twenty pounds of like money chargable
\nupon and payable out of my said Messuage or
\nTenement and pr<\/sup>[e]mises aforesaid in equal Shares
\nand proportions if there shall happen to be
\nmore Children than One living otherwise to one
\nsuch Child Entirely if there be but one then
\nliving Item I give and bequeath unto my said
\nSister Bennett Coningsby the Sum of Twenty
\nShillings to buy her a mourning Ring to wear
\nin Remembrance of me Item I give & bequeath
\nunto my said Brother in Law Phillip Philpot
\nif he happens to be living at my decease otherwise
\nto the Issue of his Body that shall happen to
\nbe then living the sum of Twenty Shillings
\nto be paid to him or them within Three months
\nafter my decease Item I give and bequeath
\nunto the said John Barns and Elizabeth
\nhis Wife Two Rings of the value of Twenty
\nShillings each Ringe or in lieu thereof Twenty
\nShillings apiece in money Item all the rest of
\nmy goods chattels plate ready money linnen
\nbeding and personal Estate whatsoever I give
\nand bequeath unto my loving Wife Mary Mason
\nshe paying my debts legacies funeral and other
\nincident charges improving this my Will or other=
\n=wise Item I do make nominate and appoint my
\nsaid loving Wife Mary Mason full and sole
\nExecutrix of this my last Will and Testament
\nhereby revoking all former Wills and Testaments
