Mary Rickson<\/a> was the third wife of Michael Rickson<\/a>, Michael probably being a 7 x great grandfather of mine.<\/p>\n

Mary was a widow when she married Michael, and I have not (yet) found her maiden name. If she was a similar age to Michael then her first marriage may well have been during the interregnum when their are gaps in many PRs. However, as she left bequests to quite a number of cousins it may be possible to identify a likely Mary from looking at these families.<\/p>\n

There is no underlining in this document – anything that looks like it is overlining, and is my attempt to show where there was overlinging in the register copy of the will, one way of indicating letters were omitted.<\/p>\n

\nof our Sov[e]raigne Lord William the 3d<\/sup>. by the
\ngrace of God of England Scotland France &
\nIreland King Defender of the faith Annoq3<\/sub>
\nDni 1695 I Mary Rickson wife of Michael
\nRickson in the Towne of Fav[er]sham in the County
\nif Kent Marriner being of sound and p[er]fect mind
\n& memory praised be God for the same doe make &
\nordaine this my Last Will & Testament in manner
\nand forme Followeing hereby anulling revokeing &
\nmakeing void all other and former Wills by me made
\nat any tyme before Impis<\/sup>. I comend my soule into
\nthe hands of Allmighty God my Creator assuredly
\ntrusting by the meritts of my Saviour Jesus Christ
\nto be made p[ar]taker of eternall life And my body
\nto be devently buryed at the discretion of my
\nLoveinge husband whome I do appoint to pay the
\nsuverall charges with the ten pounds in his hands &
\nother money which I order for that purpose Item I give
\nand bequeath to mysaid loveing husband the sume
\nof five pounds to be paid him by my Executrix
\nhereafter named Item I give & bequeath to my two
\nsons in Law Michael<\/a> & Thomas Rickson<\/a> the sume
\nof twenty shillings apeece Item I give to my three
\ndaughters in Law as Followeth vizt<\/sup> to Amy<\/a>
\n Goatham<\/a> twenty shillings to Mary Mason<\/a> five
\npounds & unto Dorothy Vandipeer<\/a> twenty shillings
\nAnd that these be paid in three years after my
\nDecease And I give my daughter Mary Mason one
\nwhole suite of cloaths inward & outward to take
\nher choice out of all my weareing apparell Item
\nI give to my Couzens Edward & Stephen Russell<\/strong>
\nthe sum<\/span>e of twenty shillings apeece Item I give
\nto my Couzen George Knight & his wife<\/strong> ten
\nshillings apeece to their two children John and<\/strong>
\n Susanna<\/strong> five pounds apeece & to theire son George<\/strong>
\nforty shillings & to theire son William forty shillings
\nItem I give to my Couzen Joseph Knight<\/strong> fifteen
\npounds & to his wife ten shillings Item I give to
\nhis daughter Susanna<\/strong> forty shillings Item I
\ngive to my Cozen Susanna Gibbs daughter of<\/strong>
\n Thomas Gibbs and Mary his wife<\/strong> late decd
\nthe sum<\/span>e of fifteen pounds & also one silver
\nspout pott Item I give to my cozen John Smith<\/strong>
\n Stephen Smith & George Smith sons of John<\/strong>
\n Smith & Susanna<\/strong> his wife the sume of ten pounds
\napeece & to my cozen Thomas Knight son of<\/strong>
\n Thomas Knight<\/strong> decd the sume<\/span> of ten pounds apeece
\ntowards the putting him out apprentice in the
\nneare tyme my Will is that my Executrix pay
\ntowards his schooling twenty shillings yearely
\nItem I give to Elizabeth Knight daughter of Tho:
\nKnight decd the sume<\/span> of forty shillings Item I
\ngive to Mrs<\/sup>. Sarah Salter<\/strong> the sum<\/span>e of five pounds
\nItem I give to twelve poor Widdowes forty shillings
\nto be equally divided between them Item I give
\nto my Executrix my diamond ring Item I give to
\nmy cozen Elizabeth Jeakins<\/strong> ten shillings Item I
\ngive to Mrs. Rebecca Weeks<\/strong> the sume of ten shillings
\nMy Will is that after my daughter Mary Mason
\nhath made her choice of a suite of apparrell as
\naforemenconed that then the other two sisters Amy
\nand Dorothy before menconed have equally divided
\nbetween them all the rest of my weareing cloathes
\nof all sorts And my desire is that my Loveing
\nhusband and my Couzen Susanna Smith see them
\ndivided & that the Legacyes & bequests herein menconed
\nbe onely paid within the space of three months
\nnext after my decease except to such as are under
\nthe age of Eighteen years And my mind & Will is
\nthat they be duely paid when they shall come to their
\nrespective ages of Eighteen years or if any of them
\nshall happen to dye before or dep[ar]te this life ere they
\nattaine the age of Eighteen years And then it shall
\nbe paid to the brother or brothers sister or sisters of
\nthe decd at theire respective age of Eighteen But if
\nthere be none such then I give & bequeath it to my
