Michael Rickson<\/a> was probably a 7 x great grandfather of mine<\/p>\n

(Michael was great grandfather of a George Goatham, one of  two second cousins called George Goatham, one of whom I believe was my 4 x great grandfather. If I have the wrong George then Michael was father-in-law of my 7 x great uncle, another George Goatham!)<\/p>\n

\n[I guess ‘I Michael Rixon …’ was accidentally missed from the register copy – I will look at original to compare ]
\nof the Town and Liberty of Faversham in
\nthe County of Kent Hoyman being aged
\nand Infirm in body but of sound and perfect
\nMind and memory (praised be almighty God
\ntherefore) do make publish and declare this my
\nlast Will and Testament in maner following
\n(that is to say) Imprimis I recommend my
\nSoul into the hands of Almighty God in
\nHopes of attaining Everlasting Life after
\ndeath through the alone Meritts and mediacon<\/span>
\nof my blessed Saviour and Redeemer Jesus
\nChrist and my body I co<\/span>m<\/span>itt to the Earth to be
\ndecently interred in Christian buriall at the
\ndiscreco<\/span>n<\/span> of my Executors here in after named
\nAnd as for my Worldly Estate I give and

\nall my Just debts be with all Convenient
\nSpeed after my decease fully paid and Satisfied

\na peece and also to my Said Sons Wife<\/a> my Silver
\nTankard and also to my Said Son all my
\nCloaths both Linnen and Woollen and all
\nmy Cordwood and Coales to be paid and
\ndelivered to my Said Son and his wife by my
\nExecuto<\/span>rs <\/span><\/sup>hereinaftered named within one
\nY<\/span>eare<\/span><\/span> month next after my decease Item I
\ngive and bequeath unto my Grandson Michael<\/a>
\n Rickson<\/a> (Son of my Said Son Thomas) the Su<\/span>m<\/span>e
\nof one Hundred pounds of <\/span>good and<\/span><\/span> lawfull
\nmoney of great britain to be paid to him by
\nmy Executors in one Month next after my
\ndecease Item I give and bequeath unto my
\nGrandson Thomas Rickson<\/a> (another Son of my
\nSaid Son Thomas) the Su<\/span>m<\/span>e of two Hundred
\npounds of like money which Said Su<\/span>m<\/span>e of
\nTwo hundred pounds I have agreed to layout
\nWith other money to pay for a new hoy now
\na building at Faversham aforesaid for my Said
\nSon Thomas And I do hereby Impower and
\norder my Executors to lay out and expend
\nthe Said Su<\/span>m<\/span>e of two Hundred pounds for the
\nuse aforesaid But my Will and Mind is that my
\nSaid Son Thomas shall forthwith after my
\ndecease or at the Launching of the Said
\nHoy make and duly execute to my Executors
\na bill of Sale of a Competent and Sufficient part or
\nShare of the Said Hoy or Vessel or Some other
\ngood Security Such as my Executo<\/span>r<\/span><\/sup>s shall

\nApprove of for repayment of the Said
\nSu<\/span>m<\/span>e of two hundred pounds (So agreed to
\nbe laid out) unto my Said Grandson Thomas
\nRickson at his age of two and twenty Yeares
\nItem I give and bequeath unto my
\nGrandaughter Mary Rickson<\/a> (Daughter of my
\nSaid Son Thomas) the Su<\/span>m<\/span>e of two Hundred
\npounds of like lawfull money to be paid to
\nher at her age of two and twenty Yeares
\none Hundred pounds whereof I have agreed to
\nlayout with the aforesaid Su<\/span>m<\/span>e of two
\nHundred pounds in building the Said Hoy And
\nI do hereby Impower my Executors to layout
\nthe Said one Hundred pounds accordingly But
\nmy Will and mind is that my Said Son
\nThomas shall make Seale and deliver unto
\nmy Executors a bill of Sale of a Sufficient and
\nCompetent part of the said Hoy or Such other
\nSecurity as they shall approve of for payment
\nof the said sume of one Hundred pounds unto
\nmy said Grandaughter at her age aforesaid Item
\nI give and bequeath unto my said Grandaughter
\nMary Rickson my Great Case of Drawers and all
\nthat is in it, my great oaken Chest and all that is
\nin it my Corner Cupboard a Nest of Drawers a
\nTea table and furniture two Cloath presses and the
\nbedstedle feather bed bolster Curtains Vallance
\nCovering and Appurte<\/span>n<\/span>ces wherein she
\nUsually lyes to be paid and delivered to her
\nWithin one Month next after my decease
\nItem I give and bequeath to my Grandson
\nMichael Goatham<\/a> the su<\/span>m<\/span>e of two hundred
\npounds of like money and all my household
\ngoods whatsoever not before disposed of to be
\npaid and delivered to him at his age of two
\nand twenty Yeares. But if the said Michael

\nGoatham shall happen to dye before she
\nAttains to the age aforesaid then I give and
\nbequeath the said su<\/span>m<\/span>e of two hundred
\npounds and the said Householdgoods to my
\naforesaid Grandchildren Michael Rickson Thomas
\nRickson and Mary Rickson equally to be divided
\nbetween them Item I give and bequeath unto my
\nGrandaughter Elizabeth<\/a> wife of John Barnes<\/a> of
\nFaversham aforesaid Butcher the su<\/span>m<\/span>e of
\none Hundred pounds of like money and my
\nClock and Case and Weights and all my brush
\nWood or Faggotts to be paid and delivered to
\nher in one Month next after my decease
\nItem I give and bequeath to each of <\/span>my
\nson Michaels Children<\/a> by his last Wife twelve

\nNominate and appoint my very Good Friends

The will was proved in the Archdeaconry Court of Canterbury and is viewable on microfilm at the CCA<\/a> or CKS<\/a>.<\/p>\n
