In the Name of God Amen<\/b>: I George
\nKnowling of the Cittie of Exon Goldsmith being infirme of Bodie but of sound
\nand perfect memorie Thanes be given into Almightie God, Doe make and ordaine
\nthis my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following First I render
\nmy Soule unto my Saviour Jesus Christ whose it is by his Redemption : And my
\nBodie I leave to be layen in the Earth untill the generall Day of the Resurrection
\nwhen both my Soule and bodie shall bee united and by the Merits of Christ Jesus
\nreceaved both into eternall Rest    As for my worldly Estate which the Lord in
\nmercie hath beene pleased to lend unto mee I doe give and demise it as followeth:
\nItem I give unto the poore People of the Parish of St<\/sup> Pethericks in Exon the
\nSumme of fortie Shillings Item I give unto Thomas Ware Clerke now Minister
\nof the said Parish of St<\/sup> Pethericks the Summe of five pounds of lawfull money of
\nEngland to preach my funerall Sermon: Item I give and bequeath unto my

\nlawfull money of England, to be payd unto her by my Sonn and Executor (George<\/a>
\n Knowling<\/a>) within one yeare next after my decease. Item I give and bequeath
\nunto Anne White my Servant maid the Summe of tenn Pounds of lawfull money
\nof England, to be payd unto her by my said Sonn and Executor George
\nKnowling: Item I give and bequeath unto Walter Wootton<\/a> Sonne of William<\/a>
\n Wootton<\/a> of Blackawton in the Countie of Devon deceased the Summe of tenn pounds
\nof lawfull money of England to be likewise payd unto him by my said Sonne and
\nExecutor George Knowling : Item I give and bequeath unto John Knowling<\/a>
\nSonne of John Knowling<\/a> late of Plymouth (my deceased Brother) the Summe
\nof twentie pounds of lawfull money of England to be payd unto him by my said
\nSonne and Executor George Knowling within one yeare next after my decease:
\nItem I give and bequeath unto my kinsman Joseph Knowling<\/a> Sonne of my
\nBrother Stephen Knowling<\/a> the summe of tenn pounds to be payd unto him by
\nmy said Brother Stephen out of a greater Summe which is due and owing
\nunto mee from my said Brother Stephen Knowling : Item I give and bequeath

\nunto my kinsman William Ekins<\/a> and unto his Sister Cassandra Ekins<\/a> the Summe
\nof One Hundred pounds apeece of lawfull money of England to be payd unto them
\nrespectively within one yeare next after my decease : Item I give and bequeath
\nunto my Sonne Robert Knowling<\/a> the Summe of One thousand pounds of lawfull
\nmoney of England, to be payd unto him by my said Sonne and Executor George
\nKnowling within one yeare next after my decease; Item I give and devise
\nunto my said Sonne Robert Knowling All that my Messuage and Tenement
\nwith its Appurtenances scituate lying and being within the Parish of
\nWhitston in the said Countie of Devon To have and to hold the same to him
\nhis heires and assignes forever: Item I give and devise unto my Sonne
\nGeorge Knowling All that my Messuage and Tenement with its Appur=
\n=tenances called Levercombe alias Lavcombe scituate lying and being within
\nthe Parish of Halwill alias Halwell in the said Countie of Devon, To have
\nand to hold the same unto my said Sonne George Knowling his Heires and
\nassignes forever, Item I give and devise unto my said Sonne George
\nKnowling his Heires and Assignes forever All other my Lands and
\nHereditaments whatsoever with their and every of their Appurtenances
\nwithin the Countie of Devon and Cittie of Exon and not herein or hereby
\nbefore given and devised; Provided alwayes and my Will is, That my said wife
\nJoanna Knowling shall have hold an enjoy All those my Lands called West=
\n=downe Soccombe, Bowe and the Tenemt<\/sup> in the said Cittie of Exon wherein Roger
\nWood nowe liveth during the Terme of her naturall life; Item I give and grant
\nunto my said Sonne George Knowling All that my Messuage and Tenement
\nwith its Appurtenances scituate lying and being within the Parish of
\nSouth Brent ~ ~ in the said Countie of Devon, And alsoe all that my
\nHouse and Garden with the Appurtenances within the Parish of
\nAllhallowes on the walls in the said Cittie of Exon; And all that my Messuage
\nand Tenement with the appurtenances within the Parish of Trevalga(?)
\nwithin the Countie of Cornwall nowe in the Occupation of one Parsons To have
\nand to hold the said severall Messuages and Tenements with them and every of
\ntheir appurtenances unto my said Sonne George Knowling his Executors
\nAdm’strators and assignes (from and after the death and decease of my
\nsaid wife Joanna Knowling and not before) for and during all the residue and
\nremainder of the Estates and Interests which shall be then to come and
\nunexpired of in and to the said severall messuages and Tenements and every
\nof them: All the rest of my Goods Debts substance and estate whatsoever
\nnot herein and hereby before by mee given and bequeathed I doe give and
\nbequeath unto my said Sonne George Knowling, whome I doe make and
\nordaine Executor of this my last Will and Testament : And for the due and
\nreall performing of all things herein according to the true intent and meaning
\nof the same during the Minoritie of my said Sonne and Executor George
\nKnowling, I doe ~ ~ hereby nominate make and appoint William Sanford
\nof the Cittie of Exon esqr. and Richard Prowse of the said Cittie gent my
\nExecutors in Trst not doubting of their readyness and care therein : And I
\ndoe hereby revoke make void and nul all former Will and Wills bequest
\nand bequests whatsoever by mee made and this to stand and be my last
\nWill and Testament : In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand
\nand Seale the nynth Day of Aprill in the six and twentieth yeare of the
\nReigne of Our Soveraigne Lord Charles the second now King over England
