In the Name of God Amen
\nthe Sixteenth day of September in the second yeare of the Raigne of
\nour Soveraignes Lord and Lady William and Mary King and Queene
\nover England and in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred
\nand ninetie &c I Ans[tis] Knowling of Dartmouth in the County of Devon
\nwiddow being sick and weake of body but of sound and perfect mind and
\nmemory thankes and praise be given unto Almighty God ?? doe
\nmake voyd and null all former wills and doe make and ?? this to be
\nmy last will and testament in manner and forme following first I bequeath
\nmysoul into the hands of Almighty God my maker and Rdeemer and
\nleave my body unto Christian buriall in hope of a happy and blessed
\nresurretton and as for what God hath given me in this world I doe give
\nas followeth Impri[mi]s I doe give unto my kinswoman Mrs Hannah<\/strong><\/a>
\n Bayley<\/strong><\/a> widdow my best Lukestring gowns and a black silke Cote Item I
\ngive and bequeath unto my Cozen Elizabeth Mathews widdow my
\nbest mourning gowne and the Coate that belongs unto that gowne and a
\nnew silke bra?ched House Coate but for my silke scarfe and black
\nhoods I doe give unto my said Cozen Elizabeth Mathews and to my
\nservant maide Elizabeth Lambell equally to be devided betwixt them
\ntwo Item I doe give and bequeath unto my Servant maid Elizabeth
\nLambell the full and just sum[m]e of twenty five pounds in money and the
\nDust(?) bed she now lies upon with one pare of blanketts and one little pare
\nof sheetes with one redd Coverlid ^ {in margin: ‘with one dust Bolster’} and one feather pillow alsoe I doe give
\nher my coloured broad Cloth Coate with a broad silver dart with a sarge
\nCoate with a brod silver Hare ^ {in left margin: ‘upon’} itt with my black Crape gowne and black
\nCrape Coate and alsoe my second best mourninge gowne and blackbroad
\nCloth Coate with all my ordinary wearing Linn?? and as for all the rest
\nof my Lands and tenements within the Parish of St Petrox Dartmouth
\nwith the appurtenances thereunto belonging lying in Southtowne
\nDartmouth and all my Lands and Tenements with thapurtenances
\nlying in St. Saviours in NorthTowne Dartmouth with all my Lands &
\nTenements with all and every of thapurtenances that I have in Taunton
\nin the County of Sum[m]ersett and with all and every of my goods & Chattles
\nnot formerly given nor bequeathed I doe give and bequeath unto my son
\nJoseph Knowling<\/strong><\/a> whom I doe ordaine and appoint to be my whole and
\nsole Executor of this my last will and testament and he to pay all my
\nLegacies within two Months after my buriall In witness whereof I
\nhave hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare first above
\nwritten 1690 An. Knowling sealed and delivered in presence of us
\nJohn Peare Rebecca Hett Rich. Boodridge<\/div>\n

The will was proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury<\/a> and is held at the National Archives.<\/p>\n
