Name Susanna BASTARD Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born 1760 Stokenham, Devon, England Baptised 30 Nov 1760 St. Michael and All Angels’ Church, Stokenham, Devon, England Gender Female Bequest 1829 From her husband - Susanna's husband John left her a lifetime interest in everything he had, so long as she remained his widow (i.e. so long as she did not remarry). This did not mean he objected to her remarrying; rather, it was to protect their children's interests in his estate. Had Susanna remarried everything would have become the property of that husband, and so John's children could have been effectively disinherited. Susanna did not remarry, and did not have long to enjoy the property after John's death, as she followed him to the grave about 14 months later.
