Name John CHARROSIN Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Baptised 19 Nov 1752 St. Mary Northgate Church, Canterbury, Kent, England Gender Male Occupation Canterbury, Kent, England [1] Silk weaver - John became a freeman of the City of Canterbury in 1780, being entitled to acquire the status by his marriage to the daughter of a freeman. He would have had to pay for the privilege, though; those who married the daughter of a Freeman usually paid 11½d.
Being a Freeman, though, did mean that John's children were entitled to become Freemen themselves at no cost, so long as they were born after he became a Freeman - so his son Evans did not qualify but John did this. Despite this, the Poll Books show that Evans as well as John became Freemen.
Buried 14 Apr 1807 St. Mary Northgate Church, Canterbury, Kent, England - from Cant bur index - where listed as Charleson, but there is no other name like this so I think it must be Charisson. Age given in the reigster as 56.

Have seen the entry in the PR (on microfilm, in the CCA) - Elizabeth's surname given there as Hull, not Hall as in one IGI entry (other shows Hull)There was another Thomas in Canterbury, who married in 1794 and had a large family. It seems likely he was a son of Thomas and Elizabeth, but I haven't found his baptism (nor his burial, which might indicate when he was born).
