  Notes	Between 1749 and 1763 seven children were baptised in Stokenham, the offspring of one of more William Pikes. The spacing of the children was consistent with them being the offspring of one William with one exception: mostly they were baptised about 2.5 years apart. The exception was the 2 baptisms in 1752, one on 30 March and the other on 12 May. The May baptism shows mother's name as Elizabeth, quite different to the different-but-similar names of the mother for the other baptisms, suggesting there were 2 Williams. My tree reflects this assumption at present. Mother's name. 1749: Joan 1752 (Mar) and 1758: Jane 1755, 1761 and 1763: Jenny 1752 (May): Elizabeth Joan, Jane and Jenny seem similar enough to be the same person. Since these 3 names span the full time-period of the births, they can't be explained by William being widowered and remarrying.
