As this was an office usually held until death then I guess he was appointed about 1885.

Siblings 1 brother Half-siblings 2 half brothers and 5 half sisters (family of Michael GOATHAM and Olive WHITEHEAD) Patriarch & Matriarch [ - ? - ], d. Yes, date unknown (Father)
Mary HARBULT, b. Est 1736, d. Yes, date unknown (2 x Great Grandmother)Notes - Was William the son of Michael or just Olive?
He was born a couple of years before they married, as a Whitehead but was recorded as a Goatham in the 1861, 1871 and 1881 censuses - and listed before the other chidlren.
(Olive had had another son before marrying but he had died aged 1; perhaps the same man was father of both.)
But William married as a Whitehead, with the space for his father's name left blank, and subsequently the family used the Whitehead surname. I think he was probably not Michael's son. - (Research):n.b. There were 2 William G Whiteheads born in Bredgar 1856 / 7 - William George Whitehead and William Goatham Whitehead. Early in my research I had combined the 2 but have now separated them!
