Name Caroline GOATHAM Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born 4 Dec 1833 Bredgar, Kent, England - Actual date from obituary in Cazenovia Republican
Shown as born June 1831 in the 1900 census, but her age and her husband's seem to have been switched (he is shown as born Dec 1833 in that census)
Baptised 5 Jan 1834 St. John the Baptist Church, Bredgar, Kent, England - From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 18 Jun 2019)
Gender Female Occupation 1851 87½, Great Guildford Street, Southwark, Surrey, England House Maid - In the household of wood and stone parrior Stephen Carey and his family - a wife and 5 children, aged 1 to 15. Stephen was also born in Bredgar, which is presumably how Caroline came to work for him and his family. Maybe they were even related.
Emigrated 1868 New York, USA - Date of emigration from US 1900 census, though obit. for Caroline gives the year as 1870 and the 1920 census shows 1872.
Although the ages of the family - John and Caroline and their three sons - seemed consistent with this family I did wonder if it could be co-incidence. However, the marriage record of Fannie (born after they emigrated) gives her mother's name with maiden surname: Caroline Goatham, so I am sure it is the right family. Since first looking this is also now confirmed by a newspaper obit. for Caroline.
Residence From 1870 to 1910 Jamesville, DeWitt, Onondaga Co., New York, USA Residence From 1910 to 1920 Cazenovia, Madison Co., New York, USA - Obit. says 'mother and son' moved to Cazenovia in 1910. From the 1920 census it would appear the son was Richard.
Died 24 Apr 1920 Cazenovia, Madison Co., New York, USA - Actual date from obituary in Cazenovia Republican (of 29 April 1920, says 'last Saturday afternoon ...')

Obituary 29 Apr 1920 In the 'Cavenovia Republican' - Death of Mrs. Caroline Dean
Last Saturday afternoon occurred the death of Mrs. Caroline Goatham Dean, daughter of George and Frannie Goatham of Sittingbou[r]ne, Kent County, England.
She was born December 4, 1833,. When she grew up, married John Dean of the same place. In 1870 they sold their home and came to the United States and located in Jamesville, where they lived many years. In 1910 the mother and son moved into a small farm east of Cazenovia. About a year ago they moved onto the village. She was the mother of three sons and one daughter.
In early life she united with the Wesleyan Methodist church. Throughout her long affliction she was steadfast in the faith and was the last survivor of a family of nine children.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Fannie Cook, and one son, R. W. Dean. Funeral services were held at the home on Lincklaen street on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. R. D. Stanley officiating, assisted by Rev.. E. A. Peck. Burial was made in Evergreen cemetery.
Most of this is true or at least consistent with what is known, but there is clearly one mistake. Caroline was indeed one of nine, though three had died in childhood or adolescence. Of the remaining other five, at the time of writing (10 Aug 2018) I have yet to discover what became of her sister Susan, but of the four whose fate I do know one did not die until 1934. The three I know to have died did so in Kent, but the one still living, Michael, had also emigrated, so one might have imagined this is the one the Dean family would have had most contact with and so known that he was still alive. Maybe this was a mistake by the newspaper, not the family, or perhaps contact had been lost and the family assumed he had died.

Details from PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 20 Jun 2019)
Married 'after certificate'
John signed, Caroline made her mark; witnesses (both signed) were George Goatham (Caroline's father or brother?) and her sister Susan Dean
The 1900 census shows that Caroline was the mother of 4 children of whom one had died. Richard and Fannie were clearly still alive (as in later censuses) so it must be either Charles or John who had died by 1900.
