Date and place from probate calendar entry
Administration 17 Dec 1940 Llandudno, Clwyd, Wales Probate calendar entry - "Goatham Herbert Edwin of 102 Canterbury road Margate died 9 November 1940 at 36 King-street Maidstone Probate Llandudno 17 December to Alice Maria Goatham widow.
Effects £495 6s. 1d."
Although the calendar says 'Probate' it was actually a grant of administration only, there was no will. Early in WW2 the principal registry moved to Llandudno (for the duration). I guess the staff then involved were inexperienced, and with many men away were quite likely working long hours or engaged in extra wartime activities after work and so tired when compiling the calendar. Errors are bound to occur, but were probably more likely at this time.

Sarah married John Goatham then Edwin; the marriage cert. of Sarah and John confirms it was this John. (n.b. marrying 2 brothers like this was illegal till 1921, but I believe it happened not infrequently)
