      Effects £495 6s. 1d."

      Although the calendar says 'Probate' it was actually a grant of administration only, there was no will. Early in WW2 the principal registry moved to Llandudno (for the duration). I guess the staff then involved were inexperienced, and with many men away were quite likely working long hours or engaged in extra wartime activities after work and so tired when compiling the calendar. Errors are bound to occur, but were probably more likely at this time.

That it was at St Mary of Charity from page no. from registration index being within the pages for that church, as shown on GOONS GRO place search (members tool)
      The marriage was also announced in the "Kentish Chronicle" on Saturday 02 December 1865,
      "Faversham.- Nov. 18, Mr. Edwin Goatham, to Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Goatham."

      The large gap between the two daughters may suggest that there had been other children, but not only have none been found in the BMD registration index, but the 1911 census records that at that time Herbert and Alice had had just one child.
