    • On the 4th, when my parents received a letter telling them of Dade's death and my mother noted she wasn't sure if the funeral was Wednesday, as Renée was saying, or Thursday, as Benstead House, were saying. But on Wednesday 6th my mother's diary notes "Dade's funeral - 2pm. It doesn't seem possible we shan't see her again". My parents do not appear to have attended the funeral, I guess it wasn't possible for my Dad to get time of work for a cousin's funeral, but they sent flowers.

    • Dadee suffered from "petit mal" epilepsy. I was told she was very bright, and studying hard when her father died, 5 years after the end of the first world war but as a consequence of it. The stress of this at a time when she was studying is said to have brought on the epilepsy.
