Name John PIKE Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1817 Stokenham, Devon, England Gender Male Occupation From 1851 to 1871 Lower Street, Dartmouth, Devon, England Cordwainer - In 1851 and 1871 census. 1871 census indicates he was a master shoemaker, employing 1 man
Died 22 May 1877 (probably), Dartmouth, Devon, England - Date from Probate index. Death certificate shows his cousin Thomas Issell registered the death. I think this would have been the Thomas Issell born 1845 - son of John's first cousin Robert. (Thomas was also a cordwainer living in Lower Street in Dartmouth - he may have been the person John was shown as employing at the time of the 1871 census)
Probate 1 Mar 1878 Exeter, Devon, England National probate calendar entry - Pike John. 1 March. The Will of John Pike late of Dartmouth in the County of Devon Shoemaker who died 22 May 1877 at Dartmouth was proved at Exeter by Susan Jane Pike of Dartmouth Widow the Relict the sole Executrix.
Personal Estate under £100.
Bequest 1884 £50 - When his uncle Thomas Efford Issell wrote his will in 1870 he left £50 to John, but only after his (TEI's) wife's death. This didn't occur until 1884, after John had died, so it would have been his beneficiaries who received the money, according to the terms of his own will.
