    • A Mary Vogwell was buried at St. Mary's Church, Sampford Spiney on 25 Aug 1809 but I believe that was this Mary's sister-in-law who came from Sampford Spiney and had married there, rather than this one.
Buried 7 Mar 1803  St. Andrew’s Church, Whitchurch, Devon, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    • From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 30 Aug 2012):
Under "Burials 1803" - "March 7th. Mary Vogwill."
Not only does this seem the probable burial due to location, and lack of any other burial or marriage which could "obviously" be her, but just 9 days later a "Jane" was also buried in Whitchurch, probably Mary's sister Jenny.

Whitchurch had an average of one burial a month at this time, and whilst these were the only 2 burials in March, 5 were to follow in April; it would seem some infectious disease was afflicting the locality at that time. There was an influenza epidemic that year which could well have been the cause - especially with deaths back to normal from May, and influenza usually ends with the arrival of warmer weather.

Shows George Vogwell married Elizabeth Hannaford, both otp, married by Banns, both made their mark as also did witness William Vogwell. The other witness was Nathaniel Tremill, who was witness to most marriages in Widecombe at this time and so almost certainly Parish Clerk. (William was probably George's brother though could have been his father. Siblings or other young people were more often witnesses than parents)
