Name Marjorie Kathleen HEMMINGS Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Residence From 1914 to 1977 28a, Courtenay Street, Kennington, London, England - I understood Auntie Marjorie had always lived at the same house, but the CWGC gives her mother's address (in the 1920s as 48 Courtenay Street). However, 28 a was where Marjorie was born and she and her mother were there at the time of the 1939 registration, so I think 48 was an error.
Born 6 May 1914 28a, Courtenay Street, Kennington, London, England - From birth certificate (I have 'original copy' - i.e. copy obtained at the time of registration)

Religion C of E Residence From 1977 to 1996 43, Ocklynge Road, Eastbourne, Sussex, England In retirement - Marjorie found that the risk of being mugged etc. in the Kennington area had increased such that it was limiting her life, so after living all her life in the same house she retired to Eastbourne in about 1977.
(Dates from my memory of visiting her)

Rose Elizabeth PARTLETON, b. 7 Aug 1887, Lambeth Reg Dist, London, England , d. 8 May 1960, South Western Hospital, Stockwell, London, England (Age 72 years) (Mother)Notes - As well as being a relative "Auntie" Marjorie was one of my Godmothers.
Auntie Majorie lost 2 uncles, brothers of her mother (Charles Partleton, 1885 - 1917, and Arthur Partleton, 1893 - 1917), in the First World War as well as her father.
With a number of Partleton-side aunts and uncles, Marjorie had qutie a few first cousins, a number were very close to her in age. Most were born in Wandsworth (i.e. quite close to where Marjorie lived most of her life). I know Auntie Marjorie talked of a cousin Charles (died 2 years before her) but appears to have surprisingly little (if any) contact with the rest - although a number lived into the 21st century. Thus she named my Dad, a second cousin, as not only her executor but also her next-of-kin in her final illness.
