The grave of George Trant
The grave of George Trant
It is not clear from the gravestone if his daughter Sarah is also buried here, or just remembered on the stone. I suspect she was buried in Wales, especially as her name follows her father's, although she died 10 years earlier (although stones only being erected after a later death, not the first in a grave, are far from unknown) Inscription: In Memory of George Trant who departed this Life on the 9th day of January 1867 in the 78th year of his age. Also Sarah Daughter of the above who died in Wales on the 4th day of January 1857 Aged 42 Years. This grave is leaning towards that of Thomas Bellett and his wife Elizabeth; Elizabeth was a Trant before her marriage so this seems the part of the churchyard where the Trant family were buried. But so far (at the time of writing, March 2013) I have yet to find how the family of which Elizabeth was a member relates to my Trant ancestors / relations.
