The will of Caroline GOTHAM (1776-1854)

This is the last Will and Testament of me Caroline Gotham of No. 34 Henry Street Pentoville in the Parish of Clerkenwell in the County of Middlesex Spinster I give and bequeath unto my dear Sister Margaret Jefferson of No. 5 Petersfield Street Islington all my clothes and wearing apparel and all my household furniture together with any books I may die possessed of for her own sole use and benefit I then direct my Executors thereinafter named to collect and get in all my outstanding debts and thereout pay all my just debts and funeral expences I then Interest for the purposes thereinafter mentioned I give and bequeath unto my Executors hereinafter named all sum or sums of money due or owing to me at the time of my death or amy money I may have standing in my name in the public funds or invested in any other securities and I also direct my Executors after paying my debts as aforesaid to place the residue or remainder of such money in the three and quarter per cents of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England in their names in trust to pay and hand over the dividends and interest as issued therefrom to my dear Sister the said Margaret Jefferson during her life and after her decease then I direct my said Executors to sell out the said funds in the said Bank of England and to divide the aforesaid stocks or funds standing In a trust in their names into seven parts one seventh part to be paid to my Nephew Edmund Jefferson son of the said Margaret Jefferson one seventh part to my Nephew Matthew Gotham Jefferson son of the said Margaret Jefferson one seventh part to my Nephew Charles Edye Jefferson son of the said Margaret Jefferson one seventh part to my niece Margaret Gotham Barber daughter of my said Sister Margaret Jefferson one seventh part to my niece Fanny Niece Sangoon daughter of my said Sister Margaret Jefferson one seventh part to my Niece Ellen Coley daughter of my said Sister Margaret Jefferson and in case of the death of either of my aforesaid Nephews or Nieces the share of him or her so dying is to be divided among the children of either of my aforesaid Nephews and Nieces then living and also one seventh part to be given Francis Jefferson and Laura Jefferson son and daughter of my deceased Nephew John Jefferson in equal proportions and in case of the death of either of them the said Francis Jefferson or Laura Jefferson the survivor to take the share of the one so dying and lastly I hereby nominate and appoint my said Nephew Edward [sic] Jefferson and Mathew Gotham Jefferson Executors to my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said Caroline Gotham the Testatrix have to this my last Will and Testament contained in two sheets of paper set my hand that is to say my hand to the first sheet and my hand and seal to this the last sheet thereof this 12th day of April one thousand eight hundred and forty eight ____ Caroline Gotham Signed sealed published and declared by the said Caroline Gotham the Testatrix as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses hereto ___ William Patton ___ Mary Patton
Proved at London 26th June 1854 before the Worshipful Frederic Thomas Pratt Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the oath of Matthew in the will written Mathew Gotham Jefferson the Nephew one of the Executors to whom Admon was granted having been first sworn duly to administer Edmund Jefferson the Nephew also the other Executor having first renounced the probate and execution of the said Will (as by acts of Court appeared?)
